General: Annual or biennial herb from a taproot; stems 30-70 (90) cm tall, erect, usually single, branched above, densely long-hairy below, moderately long-hairy to glabrous above.
Leaves: Basal leaves in rosettes, short-stalked, pinnately-cut with the terminal lobe the largest, obtuse; stem leaves often densely overlapping, oblong, oblanceolate or lanceolate, irregularly saw-toothed, raggedly divided or slightly wavy-margined, densely to sparingly long-hairy to stiff-hairy; lower stem leaves short wing-stalked to unstalked with ear-like lobes at the bases; upper stem leaves unstalked, with prominent clasping, ear-like lobes at the bases.
Flowers: Racemes terminal and axillary, 10-20 cm long; flower stalks ascending, 5-13.5 mm long, stiff-hairy or glabrous; petals yellowish, egg-shaped to broadly spoon-shaped, 1.8-3.5 mm long.
Fruits: Siliques, globose or pear-shaped, (3.2) 4-5.7 mm long; segments 4, rarely up to 6; beaks 0.6-1.4 mm long, abruptly attached to the rounded silique tips; seeds dark reddish-brown, oblong, finely wrinkled and pitted.
